IGT was founded back in 1975 as A-1 but changes its name twice, first to Sircoma in 1978 and then International Game Technology (IGT) in 1981. The company began to develop gaming machines, becoming famous for its Wheel Of Fortune slot in 1996, which is still played to this day. In 1998, IGT acquired Barcrest Gaming, and throughout the 2000s acquired several other studios.
Over the last 20-plus years, the company has developed and released casino games like Da Vinci Diamonds, Cleopatra, Apollo Rising, Red Hot Tamales, Pixies Of The Forest, and Crown Of Egypt, but it most recently announced in July 2024 that its gaming and digital business has been acquired by Apollo Global Management.
